Super Star Niece

I have a niece who is very very talented. At the young age of 12, she is a wonderful singer and performer! She is a Diva in the making. Her birthday is in early Feb, but she lives in NY so I often do not get to spend her birthdays with her. This year, she traveled to AZ with her family for Presidents Day week and our family had a great "late" birthday with our little Super Star.

I wanted to make something Super special for this Super Star. I decided to make Microphone CakePops! Oh, man was this hard to figure out. How can I make the handle? How do I make the top look grey? How do I make it fabulous?

I got white chocolate, chocolate, mini Reese's cups, ice cream cones, marshmallows, sprinkles and of course cake! This is what I came up with....

Some of my supplies...the real question was:
How was I going to make the handle of the Microphone CakePops?

MARSHMALLOWS!!!

Everyone loves marshmallows....
dipped in chocolate are a for sure crowd pleaser!

Next comes the CAKE!!!
Red Velvet and Chocolate are the favorites!

I used the white chocolate to "glue" the chocolate marshmallow to the cake

Not too shabby for a first try!

Ta DA!

The cake was dipped in the white chocolate and dipped in silver sprinkle gems

Up close shot of my creation!

The finishing touch is the Pink and Purple ribbon to match the letters

They were a hit!

Kids and adults alike loved them!

I have said it before and I will say it again, I love what I do and I do what I love...but what brings me most joy is to know that I made somebody's day extra special with my sweet creation!

Spring is almost here!!

Good Afternoon CakePop Lovers!

As Spring approaches, there are so many wonderful celebrations ready for CakePops! I recently received an order for 24 Happy Birthday CakePops! It was so much fun making them! I was able to tap into my pastel sprinkles and made a great treat for everyone at the party!
Happy Birthday Ivy!

Here is a top view

I was able to use sweet-tart flowers on each side of the letters

I alternated colors of chocolate and colors of the flowers on the pops!

In the back are CakePops with chocolate and matching pastel sprinkles

Ivy was thrilled and all the guests enjoyed these delicious CakePops

Here is a view of the CakePops up-close!

I decorated the foam with Spring Ribbons and it looked like a little garden of desserts!

A very patriotic Super Bowl!

For most people, the Super Bowl is about football....for me, it was about trying a new type of CakePop! Yep, you guessed it...I made Football CakePops!! They turned out pretty good, I have made some notes at the bottom about what I wish I would have done differently. Everything, everyday is a work in progress. I for one, learn best by doing, re-doing and doing some more! Check out what I came up with for this very Patriotic Super Bowl ~

Can you tell what these Cake Pops are shaping up to be?
This was actually one of the hardest parts of making them...Shaping them to be footballs without making them too skinny on the edges, too round in the middle and making sure they didn't crack

Here they are covered in Chocolate. At least these sports balls are a regular chocolate color, so I did not have to mess with food coloring and hot chocolate again.

What about the colors?
It was so much fun that the Giants and the Patriots were both Red and Blue

Here are some of the football CakePops with the "laces" on.
I used an icing recipe that I have that is supposed to harden very quickly...
It did not harden as quickly as I would have wanted and the laces were not as neat as I hoped for.

Here they are ready for the display. I used regular CakePops with white chocolate and dipped them in the Red and Blue Team Colors!

Here is a close up! The guests got more excited about these CakePops than they did about the touchdowns!

The green styrofoam was already perfect for the football theme.
I added a little patriotic ribbon around it, at there you have them!

Here is another shot of the finished product. Not bad for a first try!

The few things I was able to learn from with this project:
1 - using white chocolate for the laces would have been better than the icing.
2 - shape the CakePops into footballs from the beginning, I re-shaped round CakePops
3 - Make more than 20 for a Superbowl party...we ran out pretty quickly

A perfect little Monkey Diaper Cake

I received an order for a one layer diaper cake today. As promised, I took pictures step by step and it tuned out to be so cute! This special gift was going to a lovely woman in California for a baby shower next weekend. It is amazing what some ribbon, decorations and a stuffed animal can do to make diapers beautiful!
I always start off with a beautiful plate
(it is a bonus gift for the Mommy-to-Be)

Next Spiral 28 Diapers around 2 rolled Diapers
to form the cake. I try to make sure the edges of the diapers that are showing are even.

Today, I chose a beautiful orange ribbon and decided to add
the perfect finishing touch of a sparkly gold ribbon.

Tying the gold ribbon into a bow creates an elegant look

Add the sweet Monkey stuffed Animal and a beautiful flower

* VOILA *

There you go...a sweet and unique present! These little cakes are also great for centerpieces and decorations. I recently made a larger "Jungle Fun" themed cake that the mom-to-be decided to keep together and use it to decorate the baby room! It warms my hear to know the mommies love these gifts!

Lots of Love,

Add Devils Food CakeBalls and we had some very happy 4 year olds!
Basketball CakePops! This order was for an all girls HS BBall team and so much fun to make!
